RESPONSIBLE TO: Executive Director of Instructional Services TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1. Administration/Non-Bargaining.2. One (1) Full-time position, 260-day position.3. Salary: $ 96,134 - $113,244 annually.4. Competitive compensation package with a salary commensurate with the education and experience of the candidate. A two-year contract with provisions for annual review and evaluation will be offered. A fringe benefit package is offered, which includes health, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurances. GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Director of Instructional Services is an administrative position under the supervision of the Executive Director of Instructional Services with responsibilities to provide leadership, options for improvement, innovation, and collaboration of instructional services for the Saginaw Intermediate School District (SISD) and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) throughout Saginaw County and the region. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist with creating, planning, and executing the vision for the SISD Instruction Department and collaboratively support district initiatives.2. Support districts and SISD consultants with the facilitation of professional learning, alignment, implementation, monitoring, coordination of development, and evaluation of the LEA K-12 curriculum.3. Remain knowledgeable and provide guidance for professional educational staff on current research, legislative initiatives, and trends in curriculum, instruction, and improvement.4. Provide and coordinate professional learning for LEA K-12 staff throughout Saginaw County in the use of best practices and research-supported pedagogy, staff development, and improvement.5. Assist with the training and provide technical assistance in continuous improvement, instructional techniques, leadership, state and federal funding, and other areas appropriate to SISD and LEA district and building needs.6. Supervise and evaluate the performance of Instruction Department personnel and programs.7. Coordinate actions in department operations, services, and supports to be in compliance with all Board policies, State and Federal regulations, and reporting requirements (HIPPA, FERPA, etc.).8. Assist with leadership, facilitation, and assistance to LEAs and SISD programs for annual reports, continuous improvement, and state and federal grants, in coordination with local and state guidance.9. Assist with the management and forecasting of the budget of the Instruction Department pertaining to school improvement, curriculum and instruction, staff development, and grant-funded programs.10. Work collaboratively on state and regional initiatives to develop and foster collaboration between districts, counties, and statewide organizations.11. Cultivate, facilitate, and support a positive culture and climate within the Instruction Department and SISD.12. Attend Board of Education meetings.13. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Master's degree in the related education field. Candidates with degrees in school administration and experience in a similar position will be given consideration.2. Valid Michigan School Administrator Certificate, or within six (6) months of hire date, enroll in an approved program leading to certification as a school administrator to be completed within three (3) years.3. A minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in teaching and/or school administration.4. Prior experience with the management of state and/ or federal grants.5. Broad experience in instructional practices, continuous improvement, and accountability.6. Familiarity with current and emerging educational research and issues affecting ISDs and LEAs related to curriculum, instruction and assessment.7. Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and established administrative operating procedures.8. Ability to use data-driven decision-making to determine the effectiveness of various programs, curriculums, initiatives, and develop strategies for improvement.9. Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, diverse student populations.10. Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, diverse staff populations.11. Ability to autonomously plan, direct, and evaluate the work of others. Prior supervisory experience preferred.12. Demonstrated command of excellent verbal and written communication skills.13. Ability to work in a decision-making system that utilizes teams and collaborative decision-making processes.14. Ability to work within district timelines, prioritize work assignments, and perform tasks with limited supervision.15. Ability to effectively work with staff, students, parents, organizations, and community members from diverse backgrounds.16. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
