Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 11:00 AM - 11:30 PM Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: At least 2 years of RN OR experience, Level 2 Trauma experience, Proficient in Ortho, Vascular, Neuro, Gen/Gyn, and Urology License: State License Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Recent travel experience preferred Description: This position is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient before and during a surgical procedure and maintaining patient safety. The RN outlines individual care plans, implements, evaluates, and documents care of patients during surgical procedures. Provides leadership to the operating room team. Communicates with patients, families, and the operating room team as well as supervisors and ancillary departments. Participates in staff development through preceptorship and continuing education. Assesses the needs of the surgical patient and develops a specific plan of care for that patient. Implements and evaluates the plan of care during the procedure and makes necessary adjustments to keep patient safety a priority. Supervises activity in the room and anticipates and coordinates any schedule changes. Assembles equipment and supplies while assisting anesthesia as necessary. Monitors the sterile field throughout the procedure. Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, operating room team members, supervisors, managers, and ancillary departments.
