Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3 Years of CVOR Experience License: Active Michigan License Certifications: Active American Heart Association BLS, Active American Heart Association ACLS Must-Have: Open Heart Experience; Experience with General, Neuro, and Ortho Cases Preferred Description: This position is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient before and during a surgical procedure. Maintains patient safety. The Registered Nurse outlines individual care plans. Implements, evaluates, and documents care of the patient during surgical procedures. Provides leadership to the operating room team. Communicates with the patient and family. Interacts with the operating room team, supervisor, manager, and ancillary departments. Participates in staff development through preceptorship and continuing education. Responsibilities: Assesses the needs of the surgical patient. Develops a plan of care specific to that patient. Implements and evaluates the plan of care during the procedure. Makes necessary adjustments, keeping patient safety a priority. Supervises activity in the operating room. Anticipates and coordinates any schedule changes. Assembles equipment and supplies. Assists anesthesia as necessary. Monitors the sterile field. Communicates with the patient, family, physician, operating room team, supervisor/manager, and ancillary departments. Participates in staff development by attending in-services, educational meetings, staff meetings, and other educational opportunities.
