Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Two years of behavioral health
experience Description: A Registered Nurse is responsible and
accountable for performing the nursing process as a basis for
patient care. Registered Nurses provide direction and oversight to
other licensed and non-licensed staff. Registered Nurses show
compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding
communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the
promotion of diversity, and professional excellence. The Registered
Nurse must demonstrate excellent customer service and have
enthusiasm for the program and the organization. Assesses care
needs of individuals served, develops a plan of care in
collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and continually
reassesses the plan of care according to the needs of those served.
In collaboration with the physician, provides and coordinates
nursing care to individuals and groups. Assists in teaching
families and provides milieu management. Communicates with and
educates families/significant others in discharge and aftercare
planning needs. Provides a safe and secure environment for
individuals served and staff in both individual and group settings.
Responsible for documenting, reporting, and verifying all necessary
information according to established policies and procedures.
Monitors for and reports any potential risk to individuals served
that could lead to an adverse outcome. Creates a customer-friendly
environment by following quality improvement standards, maintaining
professionalism, and initiating and maintaining positive
relationships with coworkers and external customers. Provides care
in various clinical settings with diverse populations. Identifies
specific needs of individuals served and implements
person-centered, compassionate care. Functions as a clinical
leader, delegating and coordinating staff assignments and promoting
staff development. Responsible for the utilization and continued
review of patient care protocols, standards of practice, and
standards of care. Provides input into processes for improvement.
Utilizes and promotes careful use of resources. May be responsible
for training direct care staff. May be indirectly responsible for
oversight of medication and physical health activities. May be
responsible for scheduling and obtaining pre-authorizations. Role
models the mission and values of the organization, presenting a
professional image in appearance, attitude, and behavior. Provides
spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to
patients. In the community residential setting, supports and
promotes a recovery-focused environment and a person-centered
approach within the program. Commits to demonstrating the model of
care in hospital and residential areas. Responsible for upholding
the healing ministry through relationships that honor integrity,
stewardship, empowerment, diversity, equity, inclusion, and
professional excellence. Must maintain annual training and
demonstrate competency in the required training. Performs other
duties or functions as assigned. May function as a charge nurse.
