Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described by
the American Nurses Association and legally by the State of
Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the nursing process which
includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning,
implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of
professional performance outlined by the American Nurses
Association. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes in nursing
practice. Successful completion of a competency-based orientation
program is required. Excellent written, verbal communication and
interpersonal skills are necessary. Strong time management and
organizational skills are essential. Ability to make quality,
independent decisions is crucial. Analytical and strong
problem-solving skills are required. Ability to work effectively
under tight deadlines and high volumes is necessary. Maintains
confidentiality to the strictest levels. Competency in the use of
various computer hardware and software systems is needed. Provides
evidence-based nursing care consistent with established plans of
care and policies. Communicates and collaborates with healthcare
team members to ensure continuity of care. Acts as a patient/family
advocate. Performs point of care testing as required. Demonstrates
high standards of moral, ethical, and culturally sensitive
behavior. Formulates decisions using ethical principles guided by
the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Advocates for privacy,
confidentiality, and security of patient data. Assesses overall
needs of the patient/family and identifies potential diagnoses or
issues. Develops and implements individualized interprofessional
plans of care based on assessment data. Evaluates patient and
family educational needs and employs appropriate teaching
strategies. Initiates patient discharge planning from the first
point of contact. Ensures timely and accurate documentation is
performed. Assumes a leadership role and delegates appropriately to
support personnel. Engages in continuous professional development
and improvement activities. Participates in safety initiatives and
risk mitigation efforts as appropriate. Performs other duties as
