required License: Must be registered with the American Registry of
Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with advanced registry in one of the
following: Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (CI),
Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI),
Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CV) Certifications: Must
maintain a Healthcare Provider certification (BLS) Must-Have:
Previous experience in a Trauma Level 1 facility, Catheterization
Lab experience Description: Under the direction of a Radiologist,
specializes in the performance of procedures of an invasive nature
to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities prescribed by a
physician. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares
patients for the examination. Obtains additional information about
the patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares prescribed
contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration to
patients. Reviews clinical data on requisition, analyzes anatomical
structure of patients, sets up equipment and, following protocols,
assists the Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic invasive
procedures. Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, physiological
monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment required for
the procedure. Ensures adequate supplies such as needles and
catheters are on hand and properly stored. Replenishes supplies as
appropriate. Actively assesses patient condition before, during,
and following all procedures as part of the team. Manually controls
equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information for the area
of the body being studied. May assist with the training of new
personnel and/or students assigned to the division. Performs all
imaging procedures demonstrating the principles of radiation
protection, including patient shielding and selection of
appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose, using other ALARA
techniques. Resolves all image exceptions and ensures high-quality
image delivery into PACS, including viewing images in PACS and
confirming image series counts. Completes study indexing in the
Radiology Information System including study begin, study end, and
completion of the study. Reviews and confirms clinical protocols
with the Radiologist before performing the study. Demonstrates Team
Member Standards of Excellence consistently, including open
communication, responding in a timely manner, displaying a positive
attitude, fostering innovation, and respecting diversity. Performs
Quality Assurance procedures as appropriate. Documents in the
medical record and within the radiology information system to
support all clinical and billing functions. Utilizes independent
judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques, patient
