Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: HR Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary The Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing a wide range of activities related to aspects of HR including employee relations, performance evaluations, compensation, employee training, unemployment, investigations and other employee services and staffing functions. This includes all aspects of HR including hiring processes and employee benefits administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops and administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel. Recommends and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for approval and processing of any and all employee terminations.
  • Establishes and maintains employee records for recordkeeping and reporting purposes utilizing electronic data systems, files, etc., tracking personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations and employee statistics for government reporting.
  • Acts as an agent for the Company regarding all Arbitration, EEOC, NLRB, Civil Rights, etc. claims and works with Legal Counsel regarding same as required.
  • Responsible for issuing of all contractual pay increases and vacation/PTO allotments per the provisions of various contracts and the employee handbook.
  • Plans, organizes and controls many activities of the HR Department. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed. Supervises the staff of the HR Department.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Human Resource systems; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Other Qualifications

Travel required 40% of the time.
