WNEM, a Meredith Corporation TV station, is recruiting for an
Executive Producer. If you have a passion for producing
high-energy, memorable shows and are super creative, this
management job may be just for you. WNEM-TV is in search of an
Executive Producer who will lead a team of producers, reporters,
and photographers to deliver promotable, compelling, and well-
written shows,. The Executive Producer will work closely with the
News Director and Assistant News Director to develop and implement
strategies to improve product, while managing resources.
* Exercise strong news judgment and supervise news show
* Collaborate with producers on story selection, graphic elements,
and pace and flow of news shows
* Brainstorm with staff on story ideas, showcasing and
* Encourage innovation
* Work with News Director and Assistant News Director on promotable
editorial calendar and any special events
* Must have strong copy editing skills
* Work closely with digital team, producers and reporters on
creative content development following up on viewers story ideas
via Facebook, Twitter and other online sources, as well as official
* Motivate staff and encourage buy in for station s news brand,
news strategies and action plans
* Must be able to fill-in as line producer when needed
* Other duties as assigned
Essential Job Functions:
45% Oversee the creation, planning, production and daily delivery
of multi-platform content. Implements key strategies to improve
product and ratings.
20% Coaching and mentoring of employees.
20% Supervise promotable editorial calendar and special events
15% Contribute to station's media platforms and initiatives,
including online and digital efforts.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements: (all must be met to be
Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field, or equivalent
training and/or experience.
At least three years experience as a news producer. Experience as a
newsroom manager preferred.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must display superior news judgment and strong editorial,
promotional and communications skills. Candidate should also have a
proven track record overseeing breaking news and severe weather
coverage on all platforms, and understand how to OWN a big story. .
Must have experience working closely with on air staff, production
staff and department heads. Must engage in team building,
implementing News Director s vision in a creative manner. Must be a
flexible team player who can think on his/her feet and remain calm
during high pressure situations. The Executive Producer should be
able to focus on details while achieving big-picture goals. Must be
able to supervise, coach and motivate staff in a positive,
Travel Required (Approximate) 20% local travel only.
